Obama drops two points, but still holds six-point lead over McCain

WASHINGTON, Oct 17 (KUNA) -- Senator Barack Obama has dropped two percentage points to Senator John McCain in their battle for the White House, but Obama still holds a six-point lead, according to an average of the most recent national polls released on Friday.

The CNN Poll of Polls found that 49 percent of Americans back Democrat Obama for president, 43 percent support Republican McCain, and eight percent were undecided.

The previous Poll of Polls, from earlier this week, showed Illinois Senator Obama with an 8-point lead over Arizona Senator McCain, 50 percent to 42 percent.

The Poll of Polls averaged an American Research Group poll conducted Oct. 11-13; a Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby survey from Oct. 13-16; a Gallup poll from Oct. 13-15; and a Diageo/Hotline survey from Oct. 13-15.
